TV host Iqrar Ul Hassan brutally tormented by ‘IB officials’ amid sting operation

Sar-e-Aam, the host of a famous TV show renowned for'sting operations' to uncover illegal activity, was reportedly tortured by IB personnel.

Iqrarul Hassan, the host of the famous TV show Sar-e-Aam, who is known for conducting'sting operations' to expose illegal activity, was allegedly tortured by Intelligence Bureau (IB) officers on Monday.

During a'sting operation' in Karachi's Orangi Town, Iqrarul Hassan, the anchor of the ARY News show Sar-e-Aam, and his team were subjected to horrific torture.

According to ARY News, during door-to-door verification of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) particulars in Orangi Town, he discovered and videotaped officers of the IB, a civilian intelligence organisation, collecting bribes from residents.

Iqrarul Hassan suffered major injuries, including a "displaced shoulder bone and shattered rib," after reportedly being tortured by IB officers, who he also said gave him electric shocks.

Following critical wounds, he was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for first aid medical care before being transferred to Liaquat National Hospital. His condition has now been considered to be stable.

Iqrarul Hassan informed ARY News that he and his colleagues were stripped nude, beaten violently, and given electric shocks on sensitive body parts 'under Director IB Syed Rizwan's orders.

The event was reported to the Prime Minister's Office, which suspended IB Director Syed Mohiuddin Rizwan as well as other officers including Mehboob Ali, Inam Ali, Rajab Ali, and Khawar.

Journalists and celebrities have been outspoken in their condemnation of the occurrence.
