COVID cases in Africa might be seven times higher than previously recorded - WHO

According to the World Health Organization's regional director, the number of COVID-19 infections in Africa might be seven times greater than official data shows, with mortality from the virus estimated to be two to three times higher.

"We're well aware that our surveillance system challenges on the continent, like as availability to testing materials, have resulted in an underestimating of the cases," Dr Matshidiso Moeti said in a regular online media conference.
