Pakistan took #1 and second place in the ICC ODI rankings

Pakistan Player took #1 and second place in the ODI ranking : Babar azm | Imam ul haq

A new One-Day International (ODI) rating has been announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Pakistani players have claimed the first and second places in the ICC rankings, as per ICC.

For the first time, Pakistan now has the world's top two ODI batters as in-form opener Imam-ul-Haq surpassed India's Virat Kohli to join teammate Babar Azam at the top of the ICC MRF Tyres Men's One Day Batter rankings.

Imam hit three half-centuries in Pakistan's recent ODI series against the West Indies at home. His efforts were rewarded when he was named Player of the Series and moved up the current rankings revealed on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old moved ahead of Kohli by 20 rating points and currently has a career-high mark of 815 rating points.

Of course, that's still a long way off from Babar's 892, with the Pakistan skipper retaining his commanding lead in the ODI batter rankings after his 17th ODI century in the opening match against the West Indies.

Other small changes inside the top ten included Aaron Finch climbing to ninth from tenth, while England's Jonny Bairstow lost two places to eighth and South Africa's Rassie van der Dussen moved a position to seventh.

More positive news for Pakistan came in the current bowler rankings, with towering pacer Shaheen Afridi jumping two places to fourth after a strong series against the West Indies.

Trent Boult of New Zealand continues to lead the bowling rankings, but Australia's Josh Hazlewood and his Kiwi teammate Matt Henry are closing in on him after moving up one position to second and third, respectively.

Quickly, England Chris Woakes was the only player to drop out of the top five, falling four places to sixth place, tied with Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who rose two places.

Zeeshan Maqsood of Oman has jumped 13 places to 10th in the all-rounder rankings after a succession of strong performances in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 play.

The 34-year-old batsman produced an undefeated century against Nepal earlier this month, then followed it up with a four-wicket haul with the ball in Oman's encounter against the United States.
